There are many people in the world who believe that if a casino is brought to their area that crime will rise. They feel that street gangs may be more prevalent in their area or that more cars will be stolen, or that there will be more murders. There may be some truth to the fact that a brick and mortar gambling facility can bring on more crime, but it not the types of crimes that are listed above that are normally brought.
The crimes surrounding some areas that have a casino are normally more of the “high crime” variety. Sure there is going to be some undesirables but normally that is not the fault of the casino. Sometimes when people see these things they automatically feel that casinos are bad. The reality is that there are some seriously misguided people out there who commit crimes and the casino is usually just the fall guy.
Sure, this is not always the case, there are some pretty shady casinos out there, and many are in the online world where they think they will not get caught. Imagine their surprise when they do. In April of 2011, there was a big crackdown on one poker site and the effects are still being felt today. This does not, by any stretch of the imagination, mean that all gambling outlets are bad. In fact, there is only a small percentage that operates in a manner that is newsworthy in terms of criminal activity.
The cyber-crime units that are operating today are very good at sniffing out the places that you should not gamble at and they are normally taken down pretty quick. Of course, some investigations can take years but eventually, every devil gets his due. Nevertheless, there are people who feel that gambling operations should be shut down completely in order to save the world from such a nemesis, in their opinion. These people will stop at nothing to ruin the industry and the fun for millions if not billions of players.
When there is a casino that players consider, the first thing they should do is to study up on what makes a legitimate casino. They should also learn how to play the games properly and they should never bet until they know how. This will prevent people from getting ripped off in such a way that they never want to place another bet in their lives.
Shady operations are in every industry. In the news recently we heard about shady bank operations, people whom we are supposed to trust. We hear about sports teams doing unthinkable things with children. Even churches can be a bit shady. The point is that just because one sort of crime may or may not surround a certain industry, it doesn’t mean that the industry should be shut down and it also doesn’t mean that all establishments in that industry are all bad.
… I don’t care what they say… I will bet at a casino online or offline whenever I want to play the slot machines.
if there is one thing i have learned, it is to not judge an entire group by just one or a few shady dealings.
that is a good point about casinos being no different than sports, banks, and churches when it comes to shady dealing.
it seems that crime is around casinos but it is around nearly every business.
People who want to control others are the people who do not want casinos around so these stories will always be blown up to be more that what they really are.
