There are basically two types of game players, those who like to play against other people and those who like to play against the machine. It doesn’t matter what game you are playing, you are going to be playing against one of the two. The main thing you have to decide is which one you want to do.
If you are considering playing against people in poker rooms or at black jack rooms, you have to know that you won’t be able to actually see faces and so if you are playing poker you won’t be able to read people like you would if you were at the table beside them. On the other hand, they won’t be able to see your face either and so that can be a good thing.
If you choose to play against the machine you have to keep in mind that the machine is set to win a certain percentage of the time; on the other hand, that means that it is set to allow you to win a certain percentage of the time. This simply means that you have to know when to play and when to stop. If you get lost in the games and forget how long you have been playing you can wind up playing more than you intended. Some people prefer to play against the machine because they think they can watch the machine and figure out how it works and then beat it. Maybe they can maybe they can’t. You have to remember that it is a computer programmed by man so it has to have a flaw somewhere.
Ultimately, you can win or lose playing against both man and machine and so what you choose is ultimately a matter of your own preference.
what an interesting article, i often have a hard time deciding if i want to play against the machine or join a table of poker. it doesn’t seem to matter which one i choose, i always have fun whether i win or not.
no matter which type of game you choose, you should have the objective of having fun and if you win you are doing well and if you don’t then you should simply chalk it up to an aspect of gambling and try again another time.
i have fun playing both against the machine and at table. i do prefer to play table poker when i can see the faces, but its fun no matter where i play.
